2007 marks the centennial of The Community Place's service to the community. The Association for Practical Housekeeping, the predecessor of Lewis Street Center, opened its doors in 1907, beginning a century-long tradition of strengthening the Rochester community and the lives of all those that live in it.
As Lewis Street Center, Genesee Settlement House, Eastside Community Center, and now, as The Community Place of Greater Rochester, we provide resources and opportunities to individuals from all walks of life to help them participate in all that society has to offer. We hope you will help us celebrate our centennial by attending one of our special centennial events, by volunteering in one of our many service areas, or by simply learning about the settlement house movement and where it stands today.
