YOUTH ENERGY SUMMIT 2009

Youth come together to turn passion into action

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 18, 2009) – The youth who will inherit the earth have the biggest stake how we care for our environment. To address those issues, the first ever Rochester Youth Energy summit will be help Saturday, April 18 at Monroe Community College's Damon City Campus.

Organized by Youth Adult Partnerships (YAP) program participants at The Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc., the summit will generate doable solutions and projects to be carried out this summer by the young people during the Summer of Power (July 6-August 28, 2009).

The summit will bring together more than 125 high school and college youth, community leaders, parents, and youth workers. The event is open to those interested in working with and supporting youth projects around energy and the environment. The summit will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the 5th floor atrium of the MCC Damon City Campus.

Partnership support is also provided by the City of Rochester, Monroe Community College, Launchmark, Sun King, Go Green 1600 and The United Nations Associations of Rochester.

The Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc. is a non-profit human service agency that provides services and activities to more than 9,000 individuals and families in our community. Integrated and community-based programs in Early Childhood, Youth and Family Services, Aging Services and Disability Services, as well as Housing for Sustainability and Transition are directed by the Community Place.
