Life Coach (Youth Development Services)

Reports to: Program Coordinator
Classification:Part –Time, School Year (22.5 hours/week). Potential hours -- 2:00 – 6:30 PM, 2:30 – 7:00 PM, or 3 – 7:30 PM, M-F, occasional Saturdays
Grade: 10
Status: Non-exempt

Required Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator the Life Coach will be responsible to develop, lead, implement, monitor and evaluate after school programs for assigned groups of youth in accordance with the division’s strategic plan.

Skills Necessary to Perform Job:

  • Associate’s Degree in social science, human service or related field desired; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • One to three years experience working in a structured youth program desired, particularly one that was outcome-based and utilized evidence-based models.
  • Working knowledge of computer software (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Must be a licensed driver and have reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate and interact with diverse youth coming from different social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the division’s strategic plan and vision.
  • Knowledge of youth developmental stages and experience in developing youth programs.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift 35 pounds and engage in recreational activities.
  • A Criminal Background Check is required as a condition of employment.

Example of Required Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, implement and monitor youth development programs for assigned groups to include components related to leadership, character development, and personal/social development.
  • Work as part of a team to successfully implement the college preparation and academic/vocational advancement program components and to create and implement plans for each individual youth.
  • Support the overall vision and strategic plan of the CPGR Youth Division.
  • Participate in designated staff meetings, trainings and department/division planning sessions.
  • Develop group session/lesson plans that accomplish the objectives of the program as well as the plans for assigned youth.
  • Take responsibility for the conduct, safety, and supervision of youth participants; maintain order and ensure adherence to safety rules and operating procedures
  • Complete training for and implement research-based youth and family development curriculums.
  • Maintain accurate data and tracking records on all assigned youth (i.e. incident reports, registration forms, evaluation instruments, etc.).
  • Make appropriate internal and external referrals for participants based on assessments and identified needs.
  • Serve as positive adult role model for participating youth; engage in problem solving with youth and encourage healthy choices and decision-making.
  • Work with parents, teachers, etc. with the goal of positively impacting youth.
