The Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc. (CPGR) announced today that after a lengthy search its board of directors has chosen Rodric Cox-Cooper as Chief Executive Officer of the agency. Mr. Cox-Cooper is filling the vacancy caused when Sue Davin stepped down from the position in 2015.
The selection of Cox-Cooper represents the culmination of a thorough and detailed search for the best person to guide The Community Place at a time when the city of Rochester is dealing with the issues of persistent poverty and a struggling school system. The search began with a deep pool of qualified candidates.
Mr. Cox-Cooper comes to CPGR with a blend of governmental, private sector and non-profit experience. He served in several positions for the city of Rochester from 1993 to 2005. Cox-Cooper led Wilson Commencement Park, a human services non-profit agency that helps low-income, single-parent families transition from public assistance to financial independence and personal self-sufficiency, as CEO from 2009-2014. Most recently he has served as President of Sphinx Consulting Services. Mr. Cox-Cooper holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
The board of directors would like to thank Dr. Andrea Cain (Vice President of Programs) and Garfield Grant (Vice President of Administration) for their tireless effort in stewarding the agency as Interim CEO and Interim President respectively during the search process. Mr. Grant is assuming the position of Chief Operating Officer which combines his role of VP of Administration with the duties he executed as Interim President. Dr. Cain will remain as VP of Programs.
The Community Place has been an integral part of the Rochester community for over 100 years when its earliest predecessor was established. We help families meet their basic needs, promote health, wellness and education, enhance personal and social development, improve literacy, and build community. 9,000 individuals annually benefit from programs and services at CPGR.
