Financial Workshops

Families – in whatever form they take – are the fundamental building blocks of any community. The Community Place helps all families, including those that lack the material or educational resources necessary to break the cycle of poverty, crime and social injustice. Programs and services include:

Family Services, located at the Parsells Avenue and the Central Park sites, assists individuals and families to meet their basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and health. A variety of services are provided including advocacy, case management, referrals, home management skill-building, and financial workshops. Specific assistance includes: food, rent/mortgage assistance, and personal items. Please note that Pantry Services are only available to an individual once every 60 days.

Food Pantry Program requirements:

Among eligibility requirements are: residents living in the following zip codes – 14605, 14607, 14609, 14610 , and 14621; household income of 185% of the poverty level or less; and established need and evidence that resources will address the immediate need.

Please note that the Monroe County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is closed.

Persons in need who do not live in the aforementioned service areas are referred within the Emergency Services and family Stabilization Network Agency in their area. Member agencies include:

  • Baden Street Settlement House
  • Catholic Family Center
  • Charles Settlement House
  • IBERO
  • South West Area Network
  • Monroe County Legal Assistance Corporation (MCLAC).

If an individual does not meet the above mentioned criteria they are not turned away. Each case is evaluated by a Case Manager to appropriately meet the needs of that individual.
